Q: How do I know if my house or business is a candidate for solar energy?
A: All locations are candidates! The ideal candidate for solar energy installations is an unshaded, south-facing roof, but there are other options that would qualify you if your roof doesn’t face south. SES will come to your home or business and make an assessment of your property and propose the best match for you and your property.
Q: How do you figure out how solar energy can work for me?
A: We utilize a Solmetric "Suneye" (patent pending), a handheld electronic device that allows us to assess total potential solar energy of a particular site.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: There are many variables to compute cost, and every installation is like a fingerprint; no two are truly alike. Whether you choose PV (electricity), Solar Thermal (hot water) or Solar Pool, there are currently generous state rebates, federal tax credits and varying rates of return on investment (known as payback). Generally, payback on PV is 15-20 years, Hot Water is 5-7 years, and Pool is 3-5 years. Once we can determine your needs, we can show you how to most effectively utilize the abundant supply of sunshine in the SC Lowcountry to lower your costs and lower the impact of your carbon footprint on our planet.
Q: How do I know how big of a system I need?
A: System size needs depend on your own electric or hot water usage. If you provide SES with your utility bills for the past year, we can better determine how much money you will save in 1 year, 5 years and beyond.
